Conclusion
The above picture is a sample of each egg nog, labeled unreadably. The Baron Harkonnen is present as an example of slightly sallow skin tones and a light mustard-colored tunic. The percentile dice are bright, cheery, adult bookstore sign black and yellow.
Which kind of egg nog do I recommend? Well, the Umpqua kinds tasted best. If you don’t live in Oregon, don’t worry – your own local brand is probably more or less the same. Pick the kind that best suits your fat intake requirements and go to.
If you require a mixer, or perhaps industrial lubricant, go for the Southern Comfort brand. That’s probably national.
If you care about chickens and cows but do not care about things like taste, texture and the ability to feel your tongue, go with the Silk brand.
If you are given a large quantity of free Wilcox brand egg nog, go with the Wilcox brand egg nog. Unless you can sell it to someone or there’s a tall building and a video camera handy.
I did not add alcohol or nutmeg to the various nogs for two reasons:
1. I do not have any alcohol or nutmeg.
2. SCIENCE!!!!
I figured the best way to judge each nog was on its merits alone.
In conclusion, I would once again like to recommend your local grocer’s store brand of egg nog, and state that I no longer like egg nog nearly as much as I used to. There are still two cartons left in the refrigerator. I have had egg nog for breakfast for the last three days.
The nog mocks me, but I stay strong. This is a battle I must win.
Thank you for your time.
And thanks to John Miller, who has no webpage and does not want our readers to have his email address, for the helpful nog pictures.

Aigknög
It’s good to make your own
Aigknög, but once we did in
a 20 gallon aluminum pot, and
I could taste the metal, so
it’s better to mix it in something
non-reactive. If you mix your own,
you can adjust the flavor/mix.
Last year after the season, there
were lots of 2for1 sales.
An alternative drink that is fun
and also hot is Wassail, for which
there are enough variations to
justify another tasting series.
Being a Dune fan, I must ask...
1. Where did you find Dune action figures?
2. Is the Baron Harkonnen the only one that wears toenail polish on his wedge-like hamfeet?
Dune
1. eBay, of course. Took me a while, but if you’re patient you’ll eventually find some going cheaply. I only wanted/bought the Harkonnens so it took me less time than it would’ve if I’d wanted all of them. I also didn’t hold out for MOC figures or ones with their accessories.
2. Ayep. He’s the only barefoot one, as well. He’s my hero.
Egg Nog additives that need adding
I forget the brand of egg nog the college food services sell, but it’s okay and after you add Captain Morgans Spiced Rum, it’s great.
I’d like to know what others add to their egg nog.
Nog additives
I considered, when I had my half gallon of “Classic Nog,” attempting to make a Nog Russian. Unfortunately I finished off the nog before I was able to purchase any vodka or kalhua, so we’ll have to wait for next Christmas I guess.
Ohio has the creme de la eggnog.
Here in America’s heartland, C.W. Burger makes not only a normal eggnog, but also CUSTARD NOG, which the label describes as a “cousin” of eggnog, made from a Colonial recipe. It’s like drinking a Creme Brulee without the crunchy sugar on top. Actually, I think C.W. Burger is based in Detroit, so you could probably also look for it in Michigan.
And, though I know how disgusting this must sound: it’s absolutely delicious mixed with Coca-Cola.
Southern Comfort Egg Nog
Would love to know where they sell this stuff now. We used to by it at Food Lion, but we can’t find it anywhere now.
Living in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Anyone know??????
vyking egg-nog
vyking egg nog is something everyone should try, it is vodka, egg nog, cinamon, almonds, and clove. you mix it all up together and warm it up until hot let it cool for two minutes and you have warm vyking egg nog.
vyking egg-nog
i forgot one last thing iam from Stoughton Wisconsin, on the border to Canada.
norwegian egg nog
of course living on norwegian egg nog, and living in hardanger fjord, Norway gives us a reason to put norwegian vodka in it, for it keeps us warm on these cold snowy nights.
Your Umpqua stuff isn’t just available in Oregon. Here in Iowa, we have the same stuff, but it’s not called Umpqua. Being April now, I can’t remember which one it was, but I think it’s either AE or Roberts. The logo and coloring on the box is exactly the same for all three varieties, and the Egg Nog matches your description of the Holiday Nog (the only kind I like).
Cheers!
