Looking Dead

A dream. I've had bad dreams where I miss Halloween ever since I can remember.

Oh, man, it was Halloween and I didn't have a costume. Everywhere I went, I saw people in glow-in-the-dark face paint and black hooded robes. They'd painted their faces in only one color, no accents, but it still looked neat.

I didn't have anything I could make into a costume. Then I had an idea.

I put on my palest foundation and powdered it, then put on my nicest clothing. I had a grey dress that helped the washed-out look I was going for.

I gave myself blue and white highlights and generally simulated being dead, then put on some truly unfortunate red lipstick and artificial-looking rouge. I dug in my underwear drawer and found some chocolate coins, peeled the wrappers from them and stuck them in my eye sockets with liquid latex. I could still see enough to get around.

[Of course I had liquid latex. I just didn't have anything Halloween-y.]

As I walked out onto the street, heading to the center of town, I saw more and more people with bright red triangles across their faces. These people wore normal clothing. Other than them and the hooded figures with glowing faces, there was nobody else outside.
