Related to Freud
A Freudian dream. Who'd think?
I was related to Freud, a great-great-granddaughter or something else remote, yet in the line of direct descent. I had to give a presentation about my ancestor to a psychology class in a few minutes. I hadn't planned anything.
I had given a lot of similar speeches, so I wasn't worried. I had some visual aids, some old notes, and I was pretty sure that the class would be asleep anyway.
I was wearing a thick wool skirt and shirt, sensible shoes and a hat. I also had a shoulder holster.
When I entered the classroom, I was taken aback. Instead of students, the whole auditorium was full of shiny metal androids and small, bipedal dinosaurs! The dinosaurs hissed and prepared to spring at me, while the androids just got their notebooks and pencils ready to take notes.
There were about three androids for every dinosaur. Everyone was sitting at big two-person shared desks, so some androids were partnered with dinosaurs. The dinosaurs were careful not to knock anything over, so it was taking some of them a while to get anywhere near me.
I drew my gun, which was very large and metallic. When I first shot it, I was surprised to find that it wasn't a slugthrower. It certainly looked traditional. Instead, it shot a ball of blue energy that burned through its target.
I killed a couple dozen of the dinosaurs as they came after me. They jumped and crouched and hissed, but I had pretty good aim. After a while, the remaining ones slunk back to their desks and got out notebooks and pencils of their own.
During my lecture, a custodian came in and started hauling out dinosaur bodies. The class paid more attention to that than to me, so I stopped talking and glared at them.
