R.I.P. Joey Ramone
1952-2001
It's like when Jerry Garcia died, except I care.
I had never heard of Nirvana when Kurt Cobain died, so this is the first "celebrity death" to really affect me.
He will be deeply missed by all.
I still got an old Ramones button from about 15 years ago.
I have been reading up on non-Hodgkins lymphoma, there is a big increase in the incidence, which I figure is chemical pollution-related. Currently, doctors are not diagnosing it soon enough when it is treatable, and by the time it gets bad, it's not treatable. But from start to finish, lymphoma can take you out in six weeks. He didn't die, he just fell off the stage...
Suffice to say, I was more than a little upset when I heard. Even though it had been expected for a little while now. Life goes on. He will be remembered by many people.
"I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul."

So long, and thanks for all the fish Joey.
...and now I'm gonna sniff some glue...
Carbona, not glue!
well, until the people who made carbona found out about the tune.
It's so hard to express regret and affection properly to someone in a genre that defied such actions.
For example gobbing, the act of spitting on a band that you like was started by the sex pistols back in punk's hay day, does not fill the bill.
Siouxsie sioux of her eponymous group contracted conjunctivitus and tuberculosis from such ill formed love.
We are gathered here today to say...
Oi, oi, oi!
Or as an elderly german woman I once new used to say,
"Oi, oi, oi. It's always something and nothing good."
Goodbye Joey Ramone,
I hope to the last you were sedated.
GABBA GABBA HEY!
4/15/01 was the worst day of my life. I know that sounds kinda fucked up (considering I've lost other family and friends), but none of which have touched me in the same way as that one man did. Even though I never met Joey Ramone, I was very depressed when I learned about his death because he is one of the most amazing human being's that this piece of shit Earth had to offer, and gave me hope to move on through some of the worst time's of my life. I'm not gonna make some drown-out lengthy speech or goodbye letter. I just wanted to express how important this man was in my life, and that the Ramones are the GREATEST band of all time.
Sincerely,
Tim
