I had been calling this sort of thing a negative feedback loop, but I was told it's a positive feedback loop. I think it's negative, and I hate to be corrected, especially when I'm wrong. But actually I think this makes me less sick than watching people being mushy.
It's positive feedback when what's fed back adds to the total, increasing the amplitude or volume or whatever, so that the size keeps increasing with each cycle. Negative feedback does the opposite. So if these two folks' anger is feeding each other's anger, making them angrier, it'd be a positive feedback loop.
That's what I thought, and I still think so. The other school of thought is that positivity or negativity is content determined. But I agree with Mikey that it's only communication specific, feedback that reinforces the feedback is positive, positive OR negative.
i notice the last few comics have dealt with dysfunctional relationships. is there something you want to share with the group, posthumous?
I sense deep-rooted personal trauma.
No more than any artistic genius.
Actually, this cartoon was inspired by the goings-on between Israel and Palestine, but Ariel Sharon on the right there does bear a striking resemblance to my second ex-wife.
You should be careful posthumus, its only a small step to legitimacy from here, and then onto the broadsheet political satire cartoons.
Yeah, the last thing you want to happen is to end up on Salon.com.
its like I said, Tuna
