Light-Up Shoes for Grownups
nurses love 'em!
Hi, Annna here. My father, Ben, always one to meddle in things Man Should Not Know, has made my mother's nursing tennis shoes and now my sister's boyfriend's dress shoes into the light-up shoes they were born too late to have as three-year-olds.
Like a modern Prometheus, Pop has brought the concept of light-up tennis shoes to the adults (for whom it was originally designed, actually, so he's kind of like an avenging modern Prometheus).
Light-Up Shoes for Grownups. Discuss.
Did you tell Pop about my idea for a lite-up jogging bra? There's a local woman named Dixie who has a small shopping cart with lite-up wheels, which is a good idea because she's elderly and taking morphine, too. Lately, I've been reading about bioluminescence and chemiluminescence, and I figure soon there will be some spiffy nano solution to lite-up clothing. Some of the Army combat suits, they tell you not to wash them because you won't show-up as a "friendly" on the night-vision StarBright. Someone bought the $340 million dollar lottery ticket in Jacksonville, Oregon!!!
At least he's not a modern Procrustes!
JACKSONVILLE, Ore. -- Someone in this Gold Rush town struck it rich with a $340 million Powerball ticket. The winner of the second-largest U.S. lottery jackpot bought the lucky ticket either at Ray's Food Place or J'Ville Tavern, the town's only lottery-ticket sellers. A runner-up ticket worth $850,000 also was sold in Jacksonville. Jacksonville was a rough-and-tumble boomtown after a Gold Rush in the 1850s. The town began to fade as the richer ore dwindled, and Jacksonville became something of a ghost town. It has revived in recent years thanks in part to its proximity to Medford, and is home to the summer Britt Music Festival. The town is on the National Register of Historic Places and has kept much of its Western flavor.
Evidently this computer doesn't like big numbers, like three hundred and forty million.
The ironic use of footwear needs a firmer place in our society. I wear bowling shoes as streetwear for the exact same reason. And now I'm going to have to build me a pair of these. You can't get away with bowling shoes at most formal occasions, but TRY AND STOP ME NOW, FUNERAL COORDINATOR.
I'd buy a pair. I'd be the fruitiest card in the newsroom.
Steve West of Medford won! Sell him some shoes!
I think if you email Pop he might be willing to work out a deal with you, but his webpage is really more of a "teach a man to fish" kind of thing.
I put fish in my shoes one time, I'll not try that again! There are probably lots of spare parts around to make blinky stuff. I liked the detail of the article; for example, drilling the shoe heels without fuzzing-up the hole. I wouldn't have thought of that first try. It occurred to me that you might not want to try to get on an airplane with Light-Up Shoes.
I'm thinking that you should go ahead and put a couple of clocks in the shoes while your at it. say left is local time and right could be GMT.
I have found that you can't use the kind of calcium carbide for miner's lamps in these toy cannons. I am surprised that the Bangsite product has gotten so expensive. They charge almost two bucks for flints, but I've found that you can take the flint out of old Bic lighters, it's sort of soft and works fine. There was an all brass cannon, but they want four hundred and thirty-nine bucks for it!
Nice ad--
so, my boyfriend grew up in south africa and was deprived of light-up tennis shoes his whole life. now, he's a really big kid at heart and still longs for a pair of his own. i've been dating him for almost a year now and i couldn't think of a more perfect aniversary gift. and i know that it teaches you how to do it on the other page, but i'm not very good with building things. and well, my boyfriend can't help me because then he'd find out. i was wondering if Ben or "Pop" would be willing to make me a pair at whatever price he would like to charge. please please e-mail me back. thank you.

I am very greatfull for this info. Actually, I made myself a pair a few years ago using the trial and error method. I still have the shoes too. I just wish I could find a place that sells the light setup by itself.
Thanks for the great info Pop
