oh dammnit [2003-12-28 03:34:00] Annna
I need to look at the Zirealisms before putting up the contests! IT IS ALL A COINCIDENCE.
Love [2003-12-28 04:15:00] Vicarious
Notice the absence of the Tin Man also.
Appetizer [2003-12-28 05:51:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
I mean I wonder if Toto was the appetizer? I made a picture of Creepy Clown in front of the Emerald City, but it's not funny.
in another coincidence [2003-12-28 10:01:00] posthumous
Yesterday I saw a fawn with its head torn off.
*shudder* [2003-12-28 11:51:00] minna
i wish somone would tear that one's head off. it's not even well drawn and it's dead eyes are staring into my soul.
look! [2003-12-28 13:19:00] In a Car
they seem to be floating by some means of devil power.
The contest [2003-12-28 16:31:00] Antwan
Someone please explain the contest to me. Help.
[2003-12-28 16:49:00] twins
Oh my god, another coincidence! Just recently I've been thinking about the pros and cons of OZ and Wonderland, how each differ and such....this contest sounds like it was made for me!
Also, anyone who hasn't seen Return to Oz should be shot. It's so underrated. I love that film...Fairuza Baulk is in it as a little kid version of Dororthy. Everyone hates it, but not me, despite the very painful "special effects". Very painful 80's special effects. I think I have Alice in Wonderland the disney version taped around here somewhere....might dig it up and watch it again.
Contest [2003-12-28 17:29:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
Things that occurred to me were to have Oz and Wonderland in conflict of different sorts. Or a weird merging. Or to take one, and argue that it's better. Or to draw the parallels. The drug parts stick out, although Wonderland has more of these. I like the Flying Monkeys from the Wicked Witch, and I imagine that when monkeys fly out my butt, it will be that kind of monkey. The hookah-smoking caterpiller is funny! The poppy field that makes Dorothy sleepy and snow that wakes her up are sort of obvious!
[2003-12-28 23:01:00] bOOfer
it would have been so much funnier if he was eating dorthy insted of eating toto or a deer thing but this shows how the lion is a lion an he has animal needs an he isnt magical an shit hes a lion man think about it just think about it
NY Times [2003-12-29 03:54:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
The NY Times has a review of a biography of the guy who wrote "The Wizard of Oz." it says that there were 14 books in the "Oz" series.
the wheelers [2003-12-29 06:47:00] pithymood
Yes I read a couple of them when I was a kid, am remembering one where Dorothy ends up in a land of ferocious critters who are like humans except that they have wheels instead of feet/legs. Their wheels were 'made out of the same substance as toenails'. (I guess it was written before 'keratin' was colloquial...)
Wheelers [2003-12-29 11:10:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
It's the first full-length bio of Baum, it says. It's a three-page review un the NY Times under "Books" > "Browsing Books" > "Non-Fiction" > "Paperback"...Wheelers in ''Ozma of Oz'' (1907)
The BBFC should have reco'nized [2003-12-29 11:36:00] Vicarious
The film that featured the Wheelers was some seriously disturbing cinema. In a genuine way. A lot of it was totally unsuitable for children.
Dedas [2003-12-29 12:20:00] Dedas
That's how you school surrealist artists...
Illustrations [2003-12-29 12:51:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
Carroll might have had more facility with English, and certainly played with the words. Baum was a good storyteller. Some thought that Oz was a "socialist utopia" and rejected it for that. If it was a socialist utopia, it might not have been a favorable commentary. But I liked Tenniel's illustrations in "Alice" a lot, they really made the book.
Baum's Wife [2003-12-29 14:34:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
The woman Baum married was a cohort of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony; and while Baum is listed as a feminist, it occurs to me that his "Dorothy" character might have been Baum's way of talking-down to and backsassing his wife. Lewis Carroll was a pioneer photographer; not that he took pictures of pioneers, but was an early photographer himself.
When you look at it that way.... [2003-12-29 17:55:00] twins
"A young girl arrives in a surreal landscape and kills the first woman she meets. She then meets up with three strangers to kill again."--Description of the Wizard of Oz in a foreign newspaper's tv guide.

Rainbow Bright, Toxic Crusaders, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

A lot of other cartoons. The Smurfs scared me, though. I hated the Jetson's, but dug The Flintstones.

My niece is scared by the Weeler's. I was, too. The remind me of Billy Idol

Make that two votes for the Cat's Ass.
Heh, Potsy. And Jonads. Joes' Nads. [2004-01-01 22:09:00] twins
I wrote so much for the contest, then realised it had to be under 200 words. So I had to use a pall smortion of it.
I know this may sound a trifle piffling, but my moniker, "twins", is spelt in lower case for a reason. A reason so dastardly and mysterious that sane men go mad to hear of it...with it, it brings about the fortelling of doom by the naked holy men tied to the great wall of china showing worm movies out of their penises as the apocalypse settles into a warm bath just over the horizon...wailing for tea and crumpets. But I digress.
Relax, this isn't gonna be one of those times when nothing is updated and each zirealism blends with the one before it; everyone's just getting ready for the contest-posty goodness. I hope.
Zim.... [2004-01-02 00:18:00] Eve
Talk to the face coz the hand don't wanna hear it no more, baybeh.
Aww yeah. Solid. I can't stay mad at you....you're just too fun to hate. Fun to annoy your little fanfic writin' self. Arn't you, you little false idol worshipper, you.
I mean, you're just so much noise now. I don't even hear any meaning anymore. That's why you're too ridiculous to hate, but more fun to irritate. Peace out! Rock on dot com! Hop on Pop!
ok..... [2004-01-02 09:30:00] Zim
Can I vote twice for the cat's ass journels?
beeblyfreeb [2004-01-02 22:34:00] twins
I reckon thingsihate should get a traffic counter. I'm curious as to how many people pass through here each day AND DON'T COMMENT. What, they think it's a big thing to comment? Intimidated just because of all the regulars? They think they have to be some elitist upperclassmen to comment?
Infamous [2004-01-03 09:50:00] Antwan
Yes, I wonder how many people know of the Legacy of Antwan.
Famous [2004-01-03 12:23:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
Yes, I wonder how many people know the Legos of Hieronymous?

Twins [2004-01-04 19:27:00] Dagaz
I pass through regularly, but I've contributed an article in the past, so DAMMIT I have a right to!
Traffic Counter [2004-01-04 20:26:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
I've seen those guys sitting by the road in a lawn chair with a clipboard counting traffic! I wonder if you have to go to college for that?
Logo [2004-01-04 20:40:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
While we're making requests, I'd like a little "Petey" logo in the address widow bar. I've seen that many of the better web sites have their logo pop-up in the address window bar along with the URL-addy thing, and that's what I think it would take to turn this website into a class-act. Thengyew!
