Zirealism

yer Sunday comix

Flytrap [2004-02-22 00:32:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
Of course, if he does catch the bird, the other guys will want a bite.
It's a parable of teamwork. [2004-02-22 01:34:00] Hatless Jack
The one poor plant working on his own is doom to be shredded by the ripping beak and sheer strength of the massive bird. His stalk and leaves are to be strewn about the area in mute testament to the utter futility of undertaking feats of greatness. However, if all three worked together they would be thrice as strong. Triumphant! That night they would feast, feast like kings!

...or they'd all be summarily shredded by the afore mentioned avian titan. One of the two.

That bird MAY look big from where we're standing (that would be somewhere in the sky and preferably on a helicopter or similar), but it's actually tiny in comparison to the gigantic blue whale-eating plants on the ground. And that's some big plants people. So it is actually the bird who is going to be the "mute testament to the utter futility of undertaking feats of greatness"; or perhaps not even that, because its next target (the plant's) could be mankind as whole (or in whole?).
So thank god that all plants are tied down to the earth by some kind of contraption, which I think, is called roots.

great bird liberator [2004-02-22 15:46:00] TempoThanos
...but if he is sucessful, we'll finally be freed from the oppressive yoke of our plant overloards. Brave bird you are in my prayers.
Worms! [2004-02-22 21:28:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
If the flytraps could convince the big bird that they are actually baby birds, they could get wiggly worms!

I think one week we should do Zirealism backwards. Everyone should write comments first and then I'll draw a cartoon that might have inspired those comments.
But then... [2004-02-23 09:32:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
...you might draw a picture of a Venus Pietrap. A "caption contest" might be fun...if you leave off the caption, and let us speculate. Droodles were sort of fun because they were so vague as to possibly be several different things. The mind boggles at the possibilities.

That open-mouthed plant just burped up its lunch, hurtling a small bird far up into the stratosphere. The bird is saying 'Phew! That was a close one. Now if I can only get this plant-spit off my feathers..'
Brunch! [2004-02-23 16:32:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
A shuttlecock for brunch!
Hey! [2004-02-25 02:07:00] Hatless Jack
What happened to yesterday's article? I had a comment all written up and everything. It referenced the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks. And now I discover the News column, yet watch in amazement as I push the 'post' button anyway. Go me.
Clams [2004-02-25 07:39:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
The clams ate it!
but wait! [2004-02-25 07:45:00] posthumous
I think I saw this Zirealism in a Toulouse-Lautrec exhibit!
or maybe... [2004-02-25 07:46:00] posthumous
it was a World Wildlife Fund smackdown!
Greek Clams! [2004-02-25 08:26:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
Maybe it was greek clams!
Oh! [2004-02-25 08:28:00] Hieronymous Biscuit
It says that it was a purloined letter.
